Club Intentions – Cregmore Claregalway FC

Since 1996, Cregmore Claregalway FC has grown from a small under-age club into a large community-based club with players drawn from boys and girls of all ages. Now we have a real opportunity to develop a modern, inclusive facility with improved amenities for youth and families, plus safe recreational access for the wider community.

What We Will Do

Keep using all our training areas and pitches in Cregmore

✓

Develop a new base at Waterdale to balance our activities across 2 sites and cater for our growth in Claregalway and surrounding areas

✓

Create one all-weather pitch with modern directional LED flood lighting with minimal spill and glare – “bright where it’s needed – dark where it’s not”

✓

Work with the local community to implement a recreational walkway all around the grounds as well as setting aside a space for a family amenity area

✓

Actively instruct, signpost and manage traffic to exit right out of the grounds and improve the safety of traffic towards and turning onto L2119

✓

Provide significant car parking well inside the perimeter boundary and have parents sign up to a ‘car-pooling’ commitment

✓

Comply with all planning, nature & environmental guidelines to develop inclusive space for members, neighbours and amenity space users

✓

Engage with all local primary and secondary schools to offer scheduled use of the grounds

✓

Provide safe spaces for children to build health, friendships and a sense of belonging – few things shape young people more positively than team sport

✓

Listen to ideas and suggestions from everyone both in support of the proposal and equally listen to the voices of concern

What We Won’t Do

Develop an overly large intrusive sports complex. We would have 2 full size pitches in Cregmore and 2 full size pitches in Waterdale

✗

Ignore local voices — feedback shapes how this development proceeds; our aim is cooperation, not conflict

✗

Profit from this — every improvement goes straight back into facilities for local youth and community use

✗

Neglect road safety – the aim is to enhance and improve and add a safe space for recreational walking

✗

Overlook biodiversity or the need to screen our development towards minimal visual impact with strategic planting and landscaping

✗

Risk the future of the club through lack of vision to cater for the growth of children especially in the village of Claregalway

✗

Delay while others move forward – sports organisations across our region are adding modern, safe inclusive facilities. We must ‘catch-up’ in giving our children the same opportunities

How can my children join the club?

Simply go to the Join Us page and click on the ‘Register’ link. The Clubforce website will appear. Choose your plan (e.g. Junior – Man or Family Bundle) and sign up. Welcome to our Club!

Everyone is welcome in our club. Contact us today or visit us at one of the training sessions and we will give you all the information you need to join us.
